Parents Association News - February, 2012
1: From the Event Committee
The monthly Class Mothers' meeting minutes are also available for your viewing on the Parent Association page.
Keep up to date on the exciting school events!
From the Event Committee
Thanks for the support from all the volunteers, the annual Mochi Pounding event
was a big success. About 400 people visited the event and we received a little short of $950.00 in donations
We would like to thank all the families who visited this event!
We also appreciated the wonderful Taiko performance again this year by the group led by Ms. Yuki Inoue, who is one of the class mothers for Sakura class.
This year we were able to purchase the second mortar for the mochi pounding from the Parents Association’s reserve / accumulated fund. Now we own two mortars for our mochi event.
We hope to continue this tradition for the years to come…
From Fundraising Committee
We are planning to start selling T-shirts and other clothing/accessories with KNI logos
KNI T-shirts are great for kids, as well as for adults, to wear at events such as the KNI Sports day in May. So please try them!
We are also selling our most popular KNI original nametags (key rings)
Please don’t miss this opportunity to purchase them!
We are collecting the following items. The recycle containers are located at the back left corner of the schoolyard.
1) Plastic bottles with Recycle symbol #1 - #7
2) Aluminum cans
(Please rinse all the bottles and cans before bringing to the school)
We appreciate your continuous support!
• The pictures from the Christmas Pageant and the Mochi Pounding event are up at the KNI Website Gallery page. Please take a look at them.

• Either at the end of February or in March, the Parents Association will be holding a lecture class about cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid in Japanese
In this two-and-half-hour class, the instructor will teach you how to perform a CPR in case your child has a cardiopulmonary arrest and how to give first aid to the child in case of his or her unexpected injuries and accidents. We are planning to hold this class during the school hour in one of the rooms at First United Methodist Church building next to the KNI. We will let you know the details such as the date and time, and the fee, as soon as they are decided.
