From T-shirt Fundraising Team
are now available. This is one of our two main annual fundraisers at Kodomo No Ie. Have you checked out the t-shirt samples displayed by the attendance sheets yet?
In addition to kids' sizes, we have unisex adult sizes and a new T-shirt cut for women. We also have insulated bags, which will come in very handy for the summer.
Don't miss this opportunity! This is the only time
KNI T-shirts will be offered this year. Put your order form and a check for Kazuko Umehata (no cash please)
in the blue box next to the attendance sheets.
Please keep in mind that cancellations, changes to your order, refunds and exchanges will NOT be accepted
Your items are expected to be ready for pickup by early April
Even the purchase of a single T-shirt helps; almost 50% of the price of the T-shirts go to the Parent Association
, which uses the money for supporting the students at KNI.
KNI T-shirts will make the upcoming Undo-kai (Sports Day) even more fun. Let's all put on our KNI T-shirts and support the school!
The T-shirt Committee and the board members of the Parent Association are all looking forward to receiving your orders.

Cooking Class with Akira-San
Akira Hirose, the owner chef
of French restaurant “Maison Akira”
, and also the father of a graduate of KNI, is going to have his 25th demonstrative-style cooking class
Date: 4/11 (Wed.)
Time: 8:45 - 11:30 (tentative)
The lesson will start at 9, and tasting will be at 11. The menu is undecided, but last year's menu; Green Asparagus Soup Creamed Poulet Bread Pudding.
The fee for the lesson has not been announced, but reasonable deals have been provided by Akira-San in the past lessons.
Don't worry about your little children! Baby sitting service is provided at during the class.
You will learn the cooking process and tips, and try the dish with Akira-San as you chat. (Your children will try the dish with you.)
This is a great chance for you to learn authentic French cooking from a leading chef of the field, and you can cook a French dish at home. Come join us!
You will receive an email from the Cooking-class Committee about the class in mid- March. Please sign up for the class via e-mail.
Akira Hirose Profile
Owner and Chef Akira has created an exquisite menu featuring the tastes of French and Japanese cuisine at his restaurant Maison Akira. In the casual, but elegant atmosphere, one can experience unique fine dining with an international flair.
Chef Akira was born in Kyoto, Japan and later moved to France where he studied under the world renowned Chef Joel Robuchon. Practicing his culinary skills, he worked at Maxim's in Paris and went on to study the fine art of pasties at Ecole de Lenotre.
After working in France, Chef Akira came to Los Angeles and joined several restaurants and more recently was the executive Chef at Tower Restaurant, Los Angeles.
Our Saturday Japanese classes will give a performance on March 17th . Please come check it out especially those of you who are thinking about joining the classes in the future. There will be some refreshments offered by the Parent Association.
