From: Mochitsuki (Rice Pounding) Event Committee

Our annual Mochitsuki Festival was held on January 11th. Despite the bad weather, we had 481 visitors at the festival and also collected $1124 for donation. We had a wonderful performance from L.A. Matsuri Daiko in the hall due to the rain; however, we managed to have a very successful event. We would like to thank all the class mothers, volunteers for both the previous day and the day of the event, PTA members, teachers from both Weekdays and Japanese classes, and the families who supported them. The collected donation will go toward the continuous funds for the Mochitsuki Festival. We look forward to seeing all of you at the Mochitsuki Festival next year!

From: Chef Akira’s Cooking Class

We are going to have a cooking class (demonstration style) by Chef Akira Hirose who is an owner-chef at a French restaurant, Maison Akira, in Pasadena again for this year on Wednesday, March 18th. The class will run from 8:45AM to 11:30AM. We are welcoming any parents to participate in the class as we do offer the daycare service for your children younger than school-age during the class. (Your children can join you for the tasting time.) We will let you know about the class fee and detailed information soon and post it on the Message Board and notify you by mail. We can also provide the English version of the recipes for participants who are English speakers. This is a great opportunity for you to learn how to cook authentic French dishes at home and also learn from the top-notch Chef Akira. We are looking forward to your participation.

From: Kodomo no Ie Festival – PA Bazaar

We are planning to have a PA Bazaar on Saturday, March 14th, 11:00AM – 14:00. If it rains on the scheduled day, we will reschedule the event for the following week. All profit from the event will either go toward PA funding or will be donated to Shishiori Elementary School where the Great East Japan Earthquake caused tremendous damage. This year, we are planning to have a “festival” like bazaar. We are thinking of offering some food and playing games for the kids’ corner. We also will have products for children, Hand-made Crafts, Sanrio products and even Raffles. Detailed information will be provided to you as the date gets closer and also via the PA newsletter. Like last year, we are asking for donations from local companies. If you know anyone who is willing to donate products for this event, please let your Class Mother and/or PA members know. Thank you very much for your support.

From: Fundraiser

We have distributed our ASPIRE (Catalog order fundraising). Please try to make a purchase even if it’s only 1 item. The deadline is Tuesday, February 3rd.
We have also decided to do a fundraising with “Kids’s Art” where you can turn your own child’s artwork into cards and memo pads. We will pass along the information once we have received their info kit. Please keep an eye out for that information to be distributed. You can anticipate receiving more information in the coming weeks.
For a trial period, we have decided to stock up on Scrip (gift cards). We are selling the gift cards listed below at the office. Please come by and purchase them. If you have particular brands that you want us to keep in stock, please let us know. * Chevron ($50) * Starbucks ($10 & $25)

We have earned about $100 from recycling (Church members have also contributed)
We have earned about $340 from Marukai Receipts.
