From the Sports Day Event Committee

Saturday, May 21st is the highly anticipated Sports Day (undoukai)! The children are really looking forward to the big day! We ask for your support to make this event a great success. Thanks to those who have already signed up to volunteer at the event. Your class mother(s) will be in touch with you with further details.
As in the past, we are expecting our alumni high school volunteers to help us on the Sports Day. Please take a moment to thank them for their effort if you see them working hard at the event. We have many events that are designed for non-KNI students including an event for toddlers, Saturday Japanese school students, and parents. We look forward to seeing you on the grounds participating in these events.

Canopies Needed for the Sports Day

To avoid the blazing sun, we set up canopies (E-Z up Tent) at the viewing sections. Each class will have a designated area where parents and children can sit together. We are asking for four canopies for each class, to ensure that we have enough space for everyone.
If you have a canopy you can lend us, please fill out the sign-up sheet located next to the attendance sheet by Friday, May 5th. The families who let us use the canopies will have the priority seating. Please bring a picnic sheet to a Sports Day Event Committee member prior to the event so we can reserve a spot for you and your family.

Due Date for the Sports Day Lunch Order

Saturday, May 6th is the last day to place an order for the “obento” boxed lunch for Sports Day. We are ordering delicious boxed lunches (adult size $8.00, kids size $5.50) from Tozai Market again this year. Please check the details on the white board near the attendance sheet. We have posted the pictures of the lunches. Please note that we are not taking any orders or changes after the due date. Thank you for your understanding.

Additional Notes

The Sports Day will take place at the same location as last year. The parking spaces are very limited and therefore many of you will be asked to park on the streets. Please make sure to give yourself enough time to arrive at the 8:30 a.m. meeting time. And please be very careful when crossing the streets.

Rummage Sale Wrap-up

The second rummage sale of the year took place from February 22nd to March 11th. We sold the unclaimed items at a garage sale before donating to a thrift store. Thanks to everyone's cooperation, we made total sales of $203.56. We donated half of the sales to KNI, and added the other half to PTA's revenue. Thank you very much.

Announcement

We are accepting nominations and volunteers for our 2017-2018 school year board members and class mother positions. Please do not hesitate to speak to a class mother if you are interested.

From Fundraising Team

We ended the sale of Scrip, the last fundraising item of this school year. Thank you very much for participating in it. The Scrip orders will be sent to you in mid-May. We continue to carry several brands in the office. Please feel free to ask for more details.

We have a favor regarding the recycling project:

When you bring plastic bottles or any other recycling items, please make sure they have the California recycling mark. Also, please know that we don't accept glass bottles. Somebody left bottles by the recycling bins the other days, but those bottles were broken inside the bag. It will be very dangerous if some glass pieces get mixed up in the play area. Please refrain from bringing bottles to the recycling bins. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
