Update on English Book Donations
Last month, we requested donations of English books that would be sent to Shishiori Elementary School in Miyagi prefecture. We received about a 100 books from everyone. We are certain that the donated books will have a good home in the “Kodomo No Ie Section” of the school library. Thank you to all who donated and helped!
Sports Day Committee
There is only event remaining of the annual “Big 3” events at Kodomo No Ie: Sports Day on Sunday, 5/21. Thank you to all who volunteered for Sports Day at the beginning of the year. We will be requesting more volunteers from those who have joined the preschool in the middle of the school year. The class mothers will be reaching out with details after spring break.
Sports Day is a big event for Kodomo No Ie, and we will need many parent volunteers. We would appreciate any additional help from those who have already fulfilled their volunteer duties at other Kodomo No Ie events, especially with the individual events!

Update from Cooking Class with Akira-san
Akira-san’s cooking class drew a lot of interest, and took place on Wednesday, 3/15. Survey results showed that attendants were “highly satisfied,” and many thought that Akira-san was personable. There were many questions during the cooking demo with lots of interaction and laughter. Those that attended noted: “It was a wonderful cooking class!”, “It was so much fun!”, “It was delicious!”, and “I learned so much!” Thank you to those that made the class possible: Tomomi Taylor, Mayu Taka, Shiho Yobuko, Takako Kiyose, Nobuhiko Tanizawa. This cooking class is always a popular event and a rare opportunity to learn and interact with a well-renowned chef like Akira-san, and it can’t be experienced anywhere else. For those that were unable to join this year, we look forward to your participation next year.
It’s the beginning of the 3rd semester. How was your spring break?
Thank you for the t-shirt orders. We should be able to deliver them before Sports Day.
We are now taking orders for the last fundraising event, Scrip (gift cards). They are great gifts for seasonal occasions. The office has several gift cards for sale. Please inquire at the school office for additional gift cards. (The list of available gift cards are by the attendance sheet and also on the door of the school office. )
